Suncraft Equipment Upgrades Tier List

Which gear tiers to buy first after the equipment page redesign—Banquet Table, tools, and smelting upgrades.

Equipment Upgrades Tier List

The equipment upgrades tier list covers the redesigned equipment page Spicy Tuna Games shipped ahead of the July 28, 2026 full release. Instead of one-off tool crafts with dead-end stats, gear now uses upgradeable tiers—each step costs materials you could otherwise spend on village structures or blueprint coins. This page ranks pickaxes, processing tools, the Banquet Table, and workstation-related equipment so you invest before quests demand planks, glass, steel bars, and processed quartz.

Pair these rankings with Skill Priority (damage multiplier nodes amplify tool tiers) and Crafting Recipes for exact material costs.

How equipment tiers work post-redesign

The equipment screen groups tools by function—gathering, processing, serving, and workstation boosts. Each item shows current tier, next tier bonus, and consolidated material requirements. Upgrading is linear within a tool line: tier two pickaxe before tier three, unless a quest explicitly gates a different branch.

Full release also adds coins and blueprint purchases (Full Release), so some equipment may be buyable with currency instead of raw bars. When coins are cheaper than smelt time, we note it in tier reasoning.

S tier equipment

Tier-two pickaxe (first meaningful gathering jump)

Your first pickaxe tier upgrade belongs in S tier because every ore and shard node scales with village restoration. Players stuck on copper or gold ore walls in the demo often under-upgraded pickaxes while over-building furnaces. Tier two typically breaks mineral veins fast enough that damage multiplier skills from Skill Priority become optional rather than mandatory.

Upgrade pickaxe before cosmetic workstation skins or duplicate furnaces if quest markers point at unreachable deposits.

Banquet Table (when unlocked)

The Banquet Table is a fresh crafting feature highlighted in Devlog #2—introduced to automate serving workloads and tie into village requests. Once the blueprint appears, Banquet Table construction ranks S tier for players juggling coin requests and ingredient lists in the full game.

It is not a day-one craft in every save. The moment villagers ask for recurring meal or feast deliveries, delay other B-tier tools and build the table near request boards or central paths.

Ember-adjacent fuel tools

Any equipment tier that extends fuel radius, reduces coal consumption per smelt, or speeds hand-off to Ember behaves as S tier after Ember joins. Before Ember, these tools sit at B tier—nice but not transformative.

A tier equipment

Processing tools for quartz and minerals

Soil sifting quests—Eric mineral conversation in early playthroughs—push you toward quartz processing and related tools. Tier upgrades here beat another damage multiplier once iron bars flow steadily. Link processing upgrades to Resource Chain Planner so quartz does not clog chests unprocessed.

Glass and steel prep workstations

Equipment that buffs glass or steel bar output lands A tier when the cargo tram quest line appears. The midnight frost storyline expects planks, glass, and steel bars for a stronger chassis. Upgrade smelting-adjacent tools before sprint boots or extra cosmetic builds.

Tier-three pickaxe (mid early game)

Third pickaxe tier is A tier—not S—because tier two usually clears the first hard gate. Jump to tier three when gold or copper deposits block statue or Sunspire progress and skill points alone cannot fix DPS.

B tier equipment

Single-purpose serving tools without Banquet Table

Manual serving gear before you unlock Banquet Table blueprints is fine but redundant afterward. Rank B tier unless a quest explicitly requires a hand-served delivery before the table exists.

Duplicate tool lines

Building every tool to tier two equally spreads materials thin. Focus one gathering line and one processing line first—see Early Game Builds for furnace versus tool budget splits.

Sprint-enhancing cosmetic equipment

Movement cosmetics feel great with sprint unlocked but do not increase bar throughput. Cozy collectors can buy them; optimizers wait.

C tier equipment — delay

Max-tier vanity before quest gates visible

Pushing any tool to max tier while village quests still ask for basic planks wastes quartz and rare ingots. Read the next quest requirement panel before maxing.

Obsolete demo gear without tier migration

Demo saves that carry over may hold old tools (Demo Carryover). Open the redesigned equipment page on launch day and migrate along tier paths—do not re-craft deprecated items the UI marks replaced.

Banquet Table deep dive

The Banquet Table sits at the intersection of coins, requests, and automation—three full-release pillars from June and July devlogs. Practical setup:

  1. Place the table within Ember patrol range if fuel adjacency matters for linked kitchens.
  2. Stock chests with ingredients named on request cards—mirror sorting from Crafting Recipes.
  3. Upgrade table tier when request rewards include gems or rare blueprint coins; skip tiers that only add visual plates.
  4. Pair with storage chest skills from the Skill Tree Revamp so inputs do not desync.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What changed on the equipment page in 1.0?

Tools now use visible upgrade tiers with consolidated costs instead of one-off crafts. The UI groups gathering, processing, and serving gear for clearer progression.

Is the Banquet Table required for story progress?

Not always immediately, but full-release requests and coin loops assume serving automation. Build it when villagers start recurring ingredient tasks.

Pickaxe or furnace upgrade first?

Furnace two if quests need bars now. Pickaxe tier two if quests need ore you cannot break in reasonable time.

Do equipment tiers carry over from the demo?

Demo progress carries to full release. Open the new equipment page on launch to confirm tier state—some items may show migration prompts.

Can I buy equipment with coins instead of crafting?

Full release adds coin vendors for blueprints and essentials. Compare coin price versus smelt time in the shop before spending bars.

How do tools interact with damage multiplier skills?

Skills multiply output per swing; tiers raise base power. Best results combine tier-two pickaxe with one damage multiplier node before pushing tier three.
